Hi there, I’m Kelly and I’m your welfare officer for the year. I’m 21 and from the back end of nowhere in Westmeath. I’m almost finished a law degree but this year my job is to help you.

As your welfare officer I’m your support system for the year. Be it sexual health, mental health, accommodation, finance or if you simply just need someone to talk to, then I’m your girl. My office is on the ground floor of 54 college road and my door is always open. (Unless it’s closed, then give me a text on 0861842697 and I’ll let you know when I’ll be back). Don’t hesitate to get in touch, I’ll put the kettle on and we can talk out whatever it is that’s getting you down, that’s what I’m here for.

I also run the condom shop from my office, you can get 3 free condoms a day and from then on we work on a discounted price. There’s 9 for €3, 30 for €10 and 144 for €33.

Another part of my job is running some welfare weeks throughout the year. We’ll have things coming up like SHAG week, mental health week, body positive week and more. If looking after people’s welfare is something you’re interested in drop me a text or an email to find out more about our Welfare Crew. They’ll be involved in the hands on work for welfare weeks and the various different welfare campaigns we’ll be running during the year.

One piece of advice for everyone, returning students or freshers, throw yourself into college life as much as possible. Go to clubs and societies day, sign up to as many as you want and stick with the ones you love, you’ll meet like minded people and make friends for life.

That’s all from me for now, drop me a message if you have any questions about anything or catch me in the office for a chat.
