Hi guys,
My name is Sue Harrington and I am your SEFS College Rep for 2010/11. I'm 22 and I am in final year Microbiology. I live here in Ballinlough, Cork and have done my whole life. I've been part of the Students Union for 2 years now; as an Ents class rep, an Academic class rep and as a Deputy College Rep. I have also been highly involved in socities during my entire time in UCC. From these experiences, I've developed great communication and leadership skills, and plan on bringing such strengths to the table as SEFS rep. I have a great interest in ensuring that all students get the most out of there time in UCC, including both academic benefits and the student experience as a whole. This is the main reason I became involved in the Student Union to begin with.
As SEFS College Rep I'm responsible for all undergraduate students in Science, Engineering and Food Science & Technology. I represent the views and opinions of each and every student in the College of SEFS at relevant bodies and in committees on which I sit. I sit on a number of these, on behalf of SEFS, such as Academic Council, Education working group, SEFS college council, SU Executive committee and of course, Student Council. At these meetings I fight for what is best for my students in SEFS.
Monthly College Clinics are also held consisting of School Reps and Academic Class Reps in the College of SEFS. I arrange and chair these meetings at which any academic issues within the college will be addressed. In conjunction with the School Reps, we will circulate regular updates about the on-goings within the College of SEFS and the SU throughout the year.
